In maths this week, Reception have been exploring shapes with 4 sides. Children have identified the properties of the shapes by counting the sides and the vertices. We discussed a square having 4 equal sides is what makes it ‘special.’ Children then used their knowledge of shapes to sort shapes into 4 sides and not 4 sides, explaining where their shapes belonged and why.
