On Friday, our Reception children enjoyed a very special treat as our very own Ice Cream Shop opened its doors!

Throughout the week, the children had been working hard to earn up to five coins through their fantastic effort, positive choices and wonderful behaviour. When Friday arrived, they were able to spend their hard-earned coins in the shop, choosing from a delicious selection of treats including a bowl, ice cream, sprinkles, sauce and even a super secret surprise! 🍨✨

The children loved using their knowledge of number bonds to 5 to work out how many more coins they needed to earn so they could buy the items they wanted. It was wonderful to see them applying their maths skills in a fun and meaningful way as they counted, calculated and made their choices.

They were so proud of what they had earned and thoroughly enjoyed visiting the shop, creating their ice creams and, of course, eating them afterwards!

One child was even given the special opportunity to work in the shop alongside the teachers, helping their friends by adding sprinkles and sauce to their ice creams. They loved taking on this important role and being part of the ice cream shop experience.

It was a fantastic way to celebrate all of the children’s hard work throughout the week, while also practising important maths skills and creating some wonderful Reception memories. 🍦💙
