Children at St. Jude’s are encouraged to put their faith into action and attend mass and learn about sacraments throughout their time in school.
Children in Year 4 are invited to celebrate the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. They prepare for these Sacraments through work with their parents and the church catechists.
It is a 10 week programme where children and their families are supported to demonstrate their faith and prepare for the sacraments.
Prayer session in school
As part of our sacramental programme we met for one of the sessions in school – this session focused on prayer. Children spent time reflecting on traditional prayers and what they mean, who they pray to and why they pray. Children were also presented with Rosary beads and we prayed some of the Rosary together, led by Fr. Michael.

Preparing for The Sacrament of Reconciliation
We hosted a session in school where the children had the opportunity to prepare for their first confession. Through role-play and practice our children are confident and excited to prepare their hearts and minds for making their First Holy Communion by confessing their sins.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation
Our Holy Communion children took their first big independent steps by making their Sacrament of Reconciliation at church. After their confession and prayer of thanksgiving each child lit a candle. Then they received a blessing at the Baptismal Font.
