Applying for a place in Preschool

St Jude’s Pre-school is a governor run early years provision set up under Section 27 of the Education Act 2002 . The Pre-school operates within St Jude’s Catholic Primary School under the trusteeship of the Archdiocese of Liverpool. As a section 27 provision the governing body is solely responsible for taking the decisions on applications for admissions. 

The admission number is 24.

Children are eligible to begin Pre-school at the start of the term immediately following their 3^rd birthday. Parents must complete a St Jude’s Pre-school Application Form.

*closing date refers to the date which falls in the term before the child is eligible to start pre-school

If the Pre-school receives more applications than places the following over subscription criteria will be applied:

1. Looked After Children and previously Looked After Children.
2. Baptised catholic children who have a sibling in the school at the time of admission.
3. Baptised children resident in the parishes of St Jude and St Edward.
4. Any child who has a sibling in the school at the time of admission.
5. Any child living in the parish boundary of St Jude and St Edward.
6. Baptised catholic children living outside the parish of St Jude and St Edward.
7. Other children living outside the parish of St Jude and St Edward.

In the event of over-subscription under any category then the governors will first offer places to the children living nearest to the school as the crow flies. 

Within two weeks following your child’s admission deadline parents will be notified in writing to inform whether a place has been allocated.

Any appeals should be made in writing within 10 days to the Chair of Governors.
